The Volunteer Reserve Rescue Squad camp on Aegna is about getting ready for the summer months, when volunteers take on the responsibility of keeping the island safe. The camp isn’t just about mastering the skills; it’s about knowing the limits of what you can do in an isolated environment.
The volunteers train in a range of essential skills, from first aid and handling difficult situations with the help of the Estonian police, to identifying explosives and working with the island’s limited water hydrants and motorized pumps to control potential forest fires.
